Picking up the electric guitar, tips anybody?
I've been looking into trying to pickup the guitar for a little while now, and I've got an acoustic Yamaha that I'm trying to learn on, but I find it easier to play on an electric guitar.
I looked into the cost-effectiveness of a "build your own" and that idea was wiped off the chart.
SO, i was doing some research on jump-start packs, and I found Ibanez has a few, one of which is the Ibanez IJX20 Jumpstart Electric Guitar Package (http://www.zzounds.com/item--IBAIJX20)
I looked up reviews on this pack, but I only found 1 review (maybe I'm just not seeing). What do you guys think? Is a jump-start a good option for a beginner? Do you have any tips for learning? Would you suggest something else?
Thanks in advance.
The Jump start and other play now packages are designed for absolute beginners who want a cheap guitar to learn on. They are generally the poorest quality guitars and amps in the line.
Spending a little more money, and buying the amp separately will get you much better gear.
If you want a bargain, try looking for used equipment. Craig's list, pawn shops or music shops that sell used gear, are great places to get good quality guitars and amps at a great price, and you will get to play the guitar and amp first to see if it is right for you.
