Looking for a good next level electric guitar amp?
Right now I have a 30 dollar amp and desperately need to upgrade. I can spend $600 max. I play blues and rock mostly Zeppelin and Clapton sound.
the number one question you really need to ask yourself is how loud do you plan on being. a 5-40 watt tube amp is plenty for around the house. jamming in the garage with friends and the 40 watt tube amp range will still have you covered. personally i think 100 watts is overkill especially if its your first serious amp.
Fenders will give you that really classic sound especially clean. i have the Hot Rod deluxe and it really rips. more than adequate for jamming, and it will be a great workhorse amp for later in your musical career. I would shy away from solidstate marshall gear i believe it most are outclassed by similar tube amps in same price range. For example the Peavey Classic 50 is a very popular amp that is an alternative to fender at a lower price usually.
I also highly recommend the vox valetronix series. They have a great sound at a great price. as a plus they are very versatile.
and the line 6 gear is a decent choice. To me though they tend to sound digital. I love multi fx units they are incredibly versatile, but none that i have run across nails the real thing.
